The Semperoper is one of the most popular attractions of Dresden, together with the Frauenkirche and the Zwinger, but there´s much more to find. With his huge collections of art treasure elector August der Starke (Augustus the Strong) made the start for Dresden´s today richness on famous museums like the world-famous „Grünen Gewölbe“ (Green Vault) or the Galerie Neue Meister (New Masters Gallery), which found its place in the earlier Albertinum since 2010. To symbolize his power August der Starke collected his treasures in the historic “Grünen Gewolbe”. Also this artwork was damaged in the Second Wolrd War and was restored with an effort. The treasure room contains countless jewellery, gems, idols and the world-famous Juwelenzimmer (Jewel Chamber).
Also the area around Dresden is worth a visit. One interesting place to see is the Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen, the first porcelain manufacture in Europe. In the museum part of this manufacture you can watch the single steps from the raw material to the finished decorated porcelain. Another beautiful place to visit is the baroque moated caslte in Moritzburg.
